Reading & Doing More For Empowering Women

Maybe a strange combination for this blog but somehow the two topics blended seamlessly in my brain although better still my heart! How I came to travel from my head to my chest in the last sentence will become clear in a moment.
Reading - my journey with this had a very similar style to the one I now witness with our children currently. A nose in a book, lying on my belly, lost in the pages, and keen for the sequel. But, almost the whole of my 20's I could only muster short magazine articles. Then in my 30's I felt a breakthrough when I discovered audiobooks. Enabling me to get through my endless dream booklist while commuting long hours. But, in my mid-forties my nose got back into books as I found space to read from paper again in my only quiet space - in the bath! I now wear glasses and they would steam up so a bit of a hindrance until I discovered an eye supplement that has strengthened my vision long enough to read a book in this warm, bubbly, quiet space. Then came another hindrance, the discovery that I may indeed have OCD which impacts the flow of reading a book. Only a few years ago after studying neurodiversity I realised for years I may be showing traits as I had to touch the taps, shower heads, door handles, and picture frames a certain way as if not I'm left with a sense that something may happen to my family. In reading I became frustrated as my OCD means that I have to look at punctuation in a certain direction, and then if I failed I had to re-read the sentence. You can probably imagine how long it takes me to read a book!
Tenuous link to empowering women coming up...
Empowering Women - tonight I was doing my reading ritual, and I was so taken with the text that I read aloud fluently with flow, and feelings within my heart of enlightenment. I went on to read pages and pages out loud, nothing was holding me back, no OCD in sight! Instead a sense of finding my voice, unlocking all the reasons I started my podcast - Women Who Should Be Famous, and the deeper knowing of all the female voices left unheard.
This is an invitation to find your voice within, and out loud. In the bath, in conversation, at work, in school, on the stage, on a podcast, in an interview, in your community, and so many places. Whilst I never truly and deeply realised quite how silent the female voice has been before us, on my personal journey of unlocking my own I hope in this moment to invite you to find yours, in your way, on your journey. Your voice matters!
