This word was the only word I could use to describe the experience of supporting 4 women (all mothers) to take the time to self-care and re-engage with all six of their senses. Whilst this programme was the final step on the path to gaining my Forest School Leadership certification, it has brought so much more into my life.
It's impossible to deny the benefits of 'connection' after enjoying a tribal session together! It surprised us all - the power of using the term 'tribe', each having our roles in the sessions. Getting lost in nostalgic creative tasks that took us back to being kids where you used your imagination to create.
This programme was a trial and there is no doubt I shall be rolling it out more, and the invitation after the course will be to continue the self-care work in a community or perhaps I have now founded another division of The Better Wellbeing way of doing things with The Better Wellbeing Tribe!
What was so moving you may be wondering. Well, it's been magical to bear witness to four strangers building and strengthening their connection to one another. Supporting, encouraging, and working with each other to create a beautiful environment to receive personal growth.
The openness of each woman was powerful, they were ready to go where they needed to go in their personal growth. They showed kindness and such unwavering gratitude for all that they were experiencing.
They shared the energy gained in the programme with their families and that is 'moving' to me.
We explored our six senses one by one and it showed how far they had all drifted from them and how impactful it was to revisit, replenish, and revive every sense. Touch was perhaps the most inspiring - feeling into what their mind and body are up to, increasing awareness, noticing everything from a 'touch' perspective - the earth beneath their feet, connection to self, and their environments.
We had fun exploring Proprioception (balance) - a sense of where we are in space and revisiting exercises each week. Our breath was such a guiding tool - and all we really did was notice it! We connected smell with taste as we brought food alive before tasting it (a good 'ol tribal campfire too!). We ended our six sessions with hearing just as I would guide a meditation as I encouraged them to welcome the sounds around them into any given moment to become fully present.
Have you been moved lately with an experience, a move towards healing, hope, and replenishment?
